Making Predictions

Connected - Level 4 - Oceans A Source Of Life - A Source Of Life by Alexandra Sides.

WALT: I am learning to make predictions on the text by looking at the title, Subtitles and Visual Cues.
I Predicted that this article is about......

  1. I predicted this could be about Millions of small bodies wriggling out of holes.
  2. I predicted this could be about Some animals (Insects) climbing into Trees.
  3. I predicted this could be about 3 million sea birds.
  4. I predicted this could be about Sea birds swirling above the Island.
  5. I predicted this could be about Insects and other species.

After I read the Article I found out that..........
Rangatira Island is still dark but the forest floor is moving. At dusk, seabirds swirl above the island, returning from day, or perhaps a week, of feeding on zoo plankton and small fish. Storm petrels on the island add tones of marine nutrients to the soil. Everything on the island is linked to the sea and is in some way part of it.

Making Predictions

Connected - Level 4 - Oceans A Source Of Life - Catch my Drift by Sarah Wilcox.

WALT: I am learning to make predictions on the text by looking at the title, Subtitles and Visual Cues.
I Predicted that this article is about......

  • The world having no Plants or Flowers.
  • Washed diatoms in the Sea.
  • Dino flagellates.
  • Plants and Phytoplankton making their own food.

After I read the Article I found out that..........
Washed Diatoms have been in the water for ages and all living organisms need food to live. Diatoms are tiny, intricately patterned capsules and that you can find a Diatom with one line of symmetry?. Sometimes favourable conditions cause a population explosion of phytoplankton.

NZ Native Bush Poem

In the Forest there is a lot of Tree’s For all the Bee’s

The grass is Green and it is also is Clean

Branches are Brown and they fall on the Ground
We always see Bushes that always Pushes
Birds are so Cool that Drool
The Birds can spell Words

We have a forest and a Rainforest
I love bugs and we all pull plugs
I love to see the Sun and have some Fun
The native bush has cool Plants and Grants

The plants and flowers are Colourful and Powerful
We love the sky but not to Cry
When we got there we sprayed our Shoes and we went on a Cruz

I love the Aloe Plant because it help’s your Sores and we always stand on Floors.

Winter Poem

Winter Poem

Winter is Great, Winter is Cold
We drink Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows,
We all feel so cold, and Old
We always hear Storm's, But just get Warm
Wear some Socks, and have some chocolate Blocks
Sneezing away, with Huge Coughs.
