This term during science, I have learnt many new things based on different topics. I've learnt the different layers of the earth and many other things about the planet we live on. In misses lab she has safety rules for whoever attempts something using the equipment or chemicals. She taught us the branches of science and the connected parts towards it, she also had us write it down so we won't forget. In science this term I learned how tsunamis and volcanoes were formed. I also learned the different types of plate tectonics and what it does, I learned about the divergent boundaries, as well as continental and oceanic crust. I've enjoyed many of the topics we've studied on this term and I am happy I learnt those interesting topics.
This blog is a record of my learning from Glenbrae School in Auckland, NZ through to Tamaki College.

Science - Volcanic Eruption, Baking Soda + Vinegar
Today during science with Mrs Kuruvilla, we did an experiment. First we got split into 4 groups then we each had to go to a station. We needed a beaker, measuring cylinder and once we had those items, the teacher came and added baking soda and vinegar into the measuring cylinder. Before she came around, we had to fill the measuring tube with water and red food colouring. Once the teacher added the baking soda and vinegar, we had to take pictures of the experiment exploding. Once the explosion was over, we had to pack up and clean the equipment.
- when a volcanic eruption occurs, lava comes out and spreads all over the land. It happens when a molten rock called magma rises to the surface. Magma is formed when the earth's mantle melts
(the experiment was small and it only worked once on our first attempt, I consider that a fail because it only worked once) care
